It is also extremely popular with military personnel based at either Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station (Cherry Point MCAS) for US Marines, Navy and civilian personnel, or Camp LeJeune, since New Bern is halfway between these two military towns of Havelock and Jacksonville, NC, making it easy to commute to either or both of these installations.
