Personally, we think New Bern,
NC, is a great place to call home!
Close to beaches (but not too close to
let the hurricanes worry us greatly), with mild climate year-round but
not the bugs of Georgia and Florida, and with friendly people,
little traffic, and reasonable cost of living and home prices,
New Bern, North Carolina has been the "Southern Surprise" for
retirees and relocating families and individuals.

Doctors, nurses and other
medical personnel also love it here since they have time to enjoy leisure and family
as well as have a great job.

NEW BERN HAS WHAT IS
IMPORTANT TO RETIREES
Most retirees
want many of the same things in a retirement destination. New
Bern has it all, including:
AWARD-WINNING
"LAID BACK" NC RETIREMENT DESTINATION

My wife and I moved down here to retire from
the Washington, DC area, and started a second career in real estate.
A lot of our family, friends
and neighbors think New Bern is great, too, as they have moved here from all
over the country and around the world for our great climate, laid back
lifestyle, "home town" friendliness and feel, and easier drive for visits to and
from friends and relatives up north or further south.
But you don't have to believe us! New Bern is consistently
listed as one of the top towns to live in and retire to in the United States (see this
article from the Today Show), and has been cited by The Today Show and
MSNBC, Money magazine, Where to Retire magazine, Southern Living
and more.

NEW BERN SALUTES
VETERANS
New Bern is also extremely
popular with retired
military personnel, since New Bern is halfway between these
two military towns of Havelock home to Cherry Point (US Marines and Navy) and
Jacksonville, NC, home to Camp LeJeune.
This makes it easy to commute to either or
both of these installations and their facilities and activities available to
active and retired personnel.
And eastern
North Carolina has been supportive of military and veterans
throughout its history, making active and retired military both
feel at home.
